In need of an investment risk governance expert to help create its pathbreaking study about defined benefit plan management, MetLife engaged Susan Mangiero for two years to conduct in-depth interviews with C-suite executives and consultants about their aptitude for, and interest in, addressing important pension plan liability risk management issues. Susan recommended interview strategies, completed essential “Voice of the Customer” research about eighteen risk factors such as longevity, and provided subject matter feedback to MetLife’s product development and marketing teams. She helped to write and then edit the inaugural edition of the MetLife U.S. Pension Risk Behavior Index. As of mid-year 2024, MetLife Investment Management had $587.6 billion of total assets under management.
