A Love Affair With Infographics

It’s no surprise that marketers are increasingly using infographics to explain data-sensitive concepts. Busy people are bombarded with information, have shorter attention spans, and are under pressure to complete tasks on a to-do list that never seems to end. Visuals are in. Big data is out.
According to an article published in the Search Engine Journal in 2022, infographics help end-users process information and therefore facilitate faster and better decision-making. Sellers benefit as well. Well-structured infographics are shareable, build brand authority, enhance Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and can distinguish a brand from competitors.
Before you call your graphics designer to meet with your financial analyst, remind yourself about the importance of creating and distributing content that fosters trust between you and your target market. Think about what you will do if it turns out that a numbers-driven story does not fit your narrative. Companies that cherry pick data, mislead with truncated time intervals, or otherwise manipulate data are vulnerable to savvy individuals who call them out on their deception.
Decision-makers need, want, and deserve data-driven presentations that encourage debate about what the data truly represents and related implications for moving forward. If you have a must-know story to tell and the data supports that story, infographics are a powerful tool to use.
